REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - After more than three decades of service, Carol Everhart, the longtime president and CEO of the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, has announced her plans to retire.

In a letter shared on July 2, Everhart reflected on her 36-year tenure leading the organization and thanked the many people who have contributed to the Chamber’s success.

“For 36 years it has been my sincere blessing to be a part of and to serve the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce team,” Everhart said. “From the business community, to membership, Chamber staff, Board of Directors, elected officials, and all those visitors who take the time to stop and say thank you.”

Everhart described her decision as one made with “true mixed emotions,” and a decision made in the best interest of those mentioned above. Everhart said that while her retirement is in the works, she would remain available as long as needed to support the transition.

Quoting John F. Kennedy, Everhart concluded, “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past and present are certain to miss the future.”

The Chamber has not yet announced a timeline for Everhart’s leaving and the selecting of a successor.
