Coastal Delaware Running Festival

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Coastal Delaware Running Festival on Sunday, April 12, will bring temporary road closures and traffic restrictions across the city and nearby areas.

The event includes a 5K, 9K, half marathon and full marathon, with courses winding through local streets. Drivers should expect delays and plan alternate routes during the morning and early afternoon hours.

Several roads will be limited to local access only from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. These include Henlopen Avenue, where people who live there in Henlopen Acres are advised to use Second Street, as well as Columbia Avenue, Grove Street between Columbia Avenue and Henlopen Avenue, Gerar Street, Sussex Street from Fourth to Fifth streets, Ocean Drive and Surf Avenue.

Additional brief closures are expected from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. along parts of Lake Avenue, Oak Avenue, Second Street between Columbia Avenue and Lake Avenue, Virginia Avenue on its first block, and First Street between Virginia Avenue and Lake Avenue.

The city encourages drivers to allow extra time to travel and stay alert for runners and traffic control personnel throughout the event area.
