CoastTV Salutes - Sept 17, 2025
- Updated
We salute James “Tommy” Anderson, a true American hero and member of the legendary Ghost Army during World War II. As part of the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, Anderson used tactical deception like rubber tanks, sound effects, and clever illusions to mislead enemy forces and save tens of thousands of lives. He served bravely in multiple European theaters, including the Battle of the Bulge, where he endured injuries but refused to leave his unit. For his extraordinary service, he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2022. After the war, Tommy returned to Delaware, working well into his nineties and continuing to inspire all who knew him. He has left behind a legacy of courage, ingenuity, and unwavering dedication to his country. Spicer Bros. and CoastTV are honoring military persons and first responders serving Delmarva. If you have a family member, friend, or community member you'd like to nominate for a CoastTV Salute, go to CoastTVSalutes.com.
