FENWICK ISLAND, Del. - Crabcake Factory Bayside is organizing a benefit for Mancini's Brick Oven Pizzeria and Restaurant following a deadly crash that killed an 80-year-old woman and hurt a 17-year-old girl.

The "Crabcrackin' for a Cause" benefit is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23, at Crabcake Factory Bayside. The event will include a silent auction featuring baskets, a 50/50 raffle and live music by Dawn Williams from noon to 5 p.m. The restaurant also plans to donate 20 percent of its sales from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the pizzeria.

"Our hearts go out to the Mancini family during this tragic time. We are asking the community to come together, once again," said Crabcake Factory on Facebook.

The fundraiser comes after a pickup truck crashed into Mancini's on Coastal Highway near Dagsboro Street in Fenwick Island late Friday afternoon.

Fenwick Island Police Chief Michael Morrisey previously told Draper Media that an 80-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were sitting on a bench outside the restaurant when the pickup truck hit them. Morrisey said the driver accidentally pressed the gas pedal. Morrisey said the two were grandmother and granddaughter.

Video from the scene showed the pickup truck lodged in the restaurant near the host stand area. Coastal Highway was temporarily closed in the area while helicopters landed to transport the two.

Crabcake Factory Bayside has also dealt with a similar crash. A car crashed into the restaurant on Jan. 5. No one was seriously hurt in that crash.
