Libraries across Delaware will see visits from the Delaware Aerospace Education Foundation and Orpheus Collar through the 2025 Summer Library Reading Program.

DELAWARE - President Trump’s executive order to cut several small agencies, including the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), threatens funding for Delaware’s museums, libraries, and educational programs. From 2020 to 2024, IMLS provided $9.1 million in funding, benefiting programs for farmers, students, and communities.

IMLS funding helped the Delaware Agricultural Museum in 2021 redesign its exhibit gallery and supported literacy programs in 2022 through the Delaware Literacy Alliance.

"In Delaware, LSTA funds are a catalyst with state funds to support library services," said Dr. Annie Norman, State Librarian. "In difficult times, library use increases for basic needs, skill development, and job searches."

The future of these programs is uncertain as staff prepare for potential cuts and administrative leave.
