DELAWARE - Registration is now open for Delaware schools and organizations to participate in the 2026-27 Poetry Out Loud competition.
The national program gives high school students the chance to memorize and recite poetry while building public speaking skills and confidence. Registration is open through Oct. 30.
School-level competitions will take place this fall, with winners advancing to Delaware’s state finals Feb. 18, 2027, at the Smyrna Opera House. The state champion will advance to the national finals in Washington, D.C.
According to Delaware Division of the Arts, students from public, private, charter, parochial, independent and homeschool programs are eligible to participate.
Last year’s Delaware state champion was Sussex Academy of Arts and Sciences student Natalia Gatti, who went on to represent the state at the national competition.
