Gliding Through the Schellville Christmas Village

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -  'Tis the season for festive, wintry activities and that's exactly what you'll find at the Schellville Enchanted Christmas village in Rehoboth Beach. The white skating rink may look like ice, but it's actually made for wheels.

For the last four years Schellville has been a part of Winter Wonderfest, first at the Lewes Ferry Terminal and then at Hudson Fields in Milton. There was an ice rink next to the Christmas village. A new partnership with the Tanger Outlets has the elf-sized houses bordering the roller rink this year.

Out of the 6.6 acres that is Schellville, the rink is 100 by 120 feet with a lazy river and organizers say it's a lot easier to maintain than if it were ice.

"Ice you have to manufacture and keep it cold at all times, and frozen, and the weather really affects that greatly," says Schell Brothers Director of Marketing Alyssa Titus.

Bombshell Boutique owner Jamie Carter-Houck has a lot of practice on her wheels. She spends time in the Christmas village at the scaled-down version of her Rehoboth Avenue store.
