"Horse Power" Crossfit Competition Raises Money for Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding

GEORGETOWN, Del.-  Preparation is underway for "Horse Power" in Georgetown. Horse Power is a Crossfit competition fundraiser at Crossfit Unlocked, raising money for Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding (SDTR).

Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding holds a special place in Jeff Peet's heart. He first got involved with the center when his brother started riding horses there.

"My youngest brother Joey has been riding with SDTR for probably 8 years or so now. My mom and dad spend a lot of time volunteering out there," said Peet, the co-owner of Crossfit Unlocked.

His fundraiser, Horse Power, mixes his passion of crossfit with his appreciation of Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding. Coed teams of two will be competing in three different divisions.

"Actually the first workout score for the teams competing will be is going to be the amount that they fundraise. The first place team gets a win right off the bat coming into Saturday," said Peet.

Thee public can watch, cheer on teams, and even enjoy some food and merchant vendors. Donations go to general operations at the therapeutic riding center.

"That's what helps us keep these guys in tip top shape for the program. They are the foundation of our program here, they are our 4 legged therapists. Also helps us keep the lights on in the program and keep operating for riders throughout the area," said Kelly Boyer with SDTR.

Horse Power kicks off this Saturday at 8 a.m. at Crossfit Unlocked. If you can make it but still want to help the cause, Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding is always looking for volunteers.
