MILLVILLE, Del. - The Delaware Department of Transportation held its first stakeholder meeting Wednesday as part of its ongoing Millville Transportation Plan.
The meeting brought together stakeholders from surrounding developments, public organizations and law enforcement to discuss the study’s purpose, goals and current conditions along the transportation corridor.
The study focuses primarily on Route 26, but also includes several connecting roads throughout Millville and Ocean View. Other areas included are Old Mill Road, Clubhouse Rd, and Irons Ln.

During the meeting, DelDOT reviewed its existing conditions analysis, which is currently underway, and discussed plans for public outreach. Stakeholders also had an opportunity to identify additional data and plans that should be considered as part of the study.
Pedestrian safety was among the concerns raised during the meeting.
Jean Hanley, a Millville resident, said children and older residents have to cross the road to get to Evans Park. She said speeding along Windmill Drive has made the area particularly concerning.
“We have children. We have elderly people coming, crossing the road to go to Evans Park, and it’s just. Windmill Drive has become a runway. It’s just people drive too fast,” Hanley said.
The meeting included a public comment period, giving members of the community an opportunity to provide feedback on transportation conditions in the area.
DelDOT says there will be additional public meetings this fall. The department is encouraging residents to check its website for announcements about future meeting dates.
