DEWEY BEACH, Del. — A 26-year-old man from Lincoln turned himself in to Dewey Beach police days after he allegedly led an officer on a dangerous motorcycle pursuit through town and into Delaware Seashore State Park.

The pursuit began around 5:10 p.m. on April 3, when an officer patrolling Coastal Highway near Saulsbury Street spotted a small black motorcycle speeding south. The rider, later identified as Jonah Work, was seen wearing a black helmet, green shirt and shorts. According to police, he entered the bicycle lane to pass several cars illegally.

Jonah Work

According to police, Jonah Work entered a Dewey Beach bicycle lane to pass several cars illegally.

When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the motorcycle continued south out of town. Police said Work evaded multiple attempts to stop him, at one point riding south on the northbound shoulder of Coastal Highway — actions investigators say posed a serious threat to public safety.

The Dewey Beach Police Communications Center traced the motorcycle, a black CFMoto, to Jonah Work, matching the vehicle description and registration.

Due to the extreme risk to others, the officer terminated the chase after the motorcycle began traveling in the wrong direction on the highway. Police then secured arrest warrants through the Justice of the Peace Court.

On May 5, Work voluntarily turned himself in at the Dewey Beach Police Department. He was arrested, processed, and released on a $3,200 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Sussex County Court of Common Pleas at a future date.

Work faces several charges, including:

  • Disregarding a police officer signal (first offense)

  • Aggressive driving

  • Driving at an unreasonable or imprudent speed

  • Additional traffic violations
