SEAFORD Del. - The city of Seaford is seeing a dramatic transformation, as a surge of investment has turned its once-vacant downtown into a center for business, healthcare, and education.

Once facing nearly 90 percent vacancy, the city now boasts more than 90 percent occupancy—a turnaround largely driven by Delaware’s Downtown Development District Program and a $60 million redevelopment effort.

At the center of the transformation is the Nylon Capital Center, a mixed-use project designed to bring jobs, healthcare, and educational opportunities back to western Sussex County.

The project includes a new DelTech facility for education and workforce training, a TidalHealth medical site to expand healthcare access, and commercial space for small businesses and startups.

Congresswoman Sarah McBride praised the effort, calling it a milestone in Seaford’s ongoing progress.

“I am proud to stand with them in this effort, and I look forward to seeing Seaford become a symbol of progress, resilience, and opportunity for generations to come,” McBride said.

With these changes, Seaford is set to become an example for other communities, showing how investment and teamwork can lead to growth.
