Ellendale War Memorial

ELLENDALE, Del. - A new vision is taking shape for the Ellendale war memorial, with plans underway for a full-scale transformation that promises to honor veterans past, present and future.

Currently, the memorial is set to undergo a multi-phase renovation, according to meeting documents from Bella Terra Landscaping. The completed project will feature a more prominent and reflective space for the community.

“I want it to grab the attention of people who are walking by and maybe not even know it's there,” said Dale Annis, a veteran and member of the Community Outreach Committee. “It gives veterans a place to go and reflect... I still feel a connection to them.”

Tony Ottomano, who lives with his wife Terrie, echoed the importance of the project. “We still have men and women out in the field today... this is ongoing. So it needs to be respected in that way.”

Others at the meeting who expressed concern, stated they were worried there would be huge impact costs. Ellendale's council said there is money for this war memorial project specifically, and it won't affect any of the other entities in town that need funding.

While Ashley Games of Bella Terra was unable to attend the latest meeting, she shared that the initiative reflects the company’s dedication to beautifying and giving back to the community.

The makeover won’t happen all at once—but a new look is coming to the Ellendale war memorial.
