FELTON, Del. ā A 45-year-old Felton man already in custody at Sussex Correctional Institution is facing new charges after allegedly violating a Protection from Abuse Order and a no contact order by attempting to reach out to a victim from within the prison.
The Felton Police Department responded to a report of the alleged violation at 6:44 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, and launched a joint investigation with Sussex Correctional Institution staff. Physical evidence collected during the investigation indicated that Steven Huey Sr. attempted to contact the female victim despite the court orders in place.
Police say there was sufficient probable cause to charge Huey with:
Noncompliance with Conditions of Recognizance Bond or Conditions (Class G Felony)
Criminal Contempt of a Domestic Violence Protective Order (Class A Misdemeanor)
Huey was video arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court and remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections. The PFA and no contact order remain active, according to police.
