FENWICK ISLAND, Del.— On Wednesday, the Fenwick Island Environmental Committee pushed its planned Wind energy symposium from March 24 to the third week of April.
Committee members say they want to give more time to get the word out to people to come and learn about offshore wind power, and to ask the town council for money to rent a venue.
Ørsted, the energy company wants to build the Skipjack wind farm, said in a statement it's looking for the best way to get the power back to land.
"Ørsted is working to survey inside the lease area, geophysical and geotechnical surveys, so we know what the most suitable routes are to bring the power from the wind farm to the coast," Brady Walker, spokesperson for Ørsted said.
Fenwick Island Mayor Vicki Carmean says the town will meet on March 4 to discuss the funding of the wind energy symposium.
