GEORGETOWN, Del. — Early Wednesday morning, a big fire started in a house on Wood Branch Road in Georgetown, according to the Indian River Fire Company.

The fire company says around 10:50 a.m., people saw smoke coming from the garage and chimney of a house at 22517 Wood Branch Rd. The Georgetown Fire Company asked for help from nearby fire departments.

Firefighters from Indian River, Millsboro, and Milton joined in. They brought big water trucks and special fire engines. The Delaware State Fire Police also came to help control traffic and keep everyone safe.

It looks like the fire started in the garage and then spread to the rest of the house, and some cars were parked nearby, according to the fire company. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
