DELAWARE - Students across certain parts of Sussex County returned for their first day of classes today. Sussex Academy is taking a staggered approach to the first day, while the Milford School District welcomed all grades today.
Sussex Academy welcomed kindergarten, sixth-grade and ninth-grade students back today as part of a planned gradual start to the school year.
The school says this method allows those grade levels to become familiar with their schedules and new routines before the full student body returns.
“It really helps with that transition into those grade levels. Helps them learn their routines. Know where to go in the morning. And then tomorrow we are welcoming kindergarten through 12th grade back," Sussex Academy Secondary Principal Kyle Bentley said.
Classes begin for all Sussex Academy students Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the school’s lower and upper campuses.
