Fences of the Georgetown-Lewes Trail

The trail has been under construction since 2016 and runs from Cape Henlopen State Park to Fisher Road in Georgetown.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - The Georgetown-Lewes Trail's construction is in the final phases.

Construction is currently evident in Harbeson, with new walkways and fences up west of Route 5.

DelDOT is working on the six remaining miles of the trail between Fisher Road and Georgetown. 11 miles are currently open and have been for years. The trail runs from Cape Henlopen State Park to Fisher Road before cutting off, where cyclists then are routed onto Route Nine. The final phase of work will connect the pieces of the trail.

Originally DelDOT anticipated the trail being open in the fall of 2025.  DelDOT anticipates the trail will be completed by the end of the year.

Once complete, the Georgetown-Lewes Trail is expected to become the longest continuous path in Delaware, passing a trail in New Castle County.
