LEWES, Del. – The Delaware Department of Transportation is going to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Route 1, Minos Conaway Intersection Project on Friday. 

The state says the goal of this new project is to keep traffic moving and increase driver safety says DelDOT. A shared-use path is also being built to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. 

The intersection has previously been the location of several car crashes, including a crash that left two children seriously injured.

Governor Matt Meyer along with DelDOT Cabinet Secretary Shanté Hastings and project engineers, community relations staff and local officials will all be on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20 at the vacant lot across from 32191 Nassau Road, Lewes.
