LEWES, Del. - The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is marking 20 years of community connection, fresh food, and local farming this Saturday, June 5, according to organizers.
The market launched during Fourth of July weekend in 2006. Organizers say the milestone will be celebrated with a tractor-led Opening Bell Parade at 8 a.m., photo memory displays around the market grounds, and a birthday cake cutting at 10 a.m. with friends of the market.
According to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, 35 local farmers and producers will participate in Saturday’s event. Children’s Storytime at the market, a weekly offering hosted by volunteers, will be held at 10 a.m. under the yellow tent.
According to the HLFM, children and their families will hear stories about farming, gardening, and healthy eating, and this week’s session will include mini cupcakes in celebration of the anniversary.
