Harbeson Road Crash

Firefighters said the truck ran off the road near a garage around 8:29 a.m. and smashed into about nine parked cars.

MILTON, Del. - A man is facing DUI and weapons charges after crashing his truck truck into multiple parked cars along Harbeson Road Tuesday morning.

According to Delaware State Police, 33-year-old James Fisher of Ellendale was driving a Ford F-750 southbound on Harbeson Road around 8:35 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, the truck left the road and hit several parked cars.

The Milton Fire Department initially reported that the crash damaged about nine vehicles.

Investigators say Fisher was seen removing a bag from the truck and hiding it behind a tree after the crash. Troopers found the bag and discovered several stolen firearms, ammunition and ballistic vests inside.

Police say Fisher showed multiple signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. He suffered minor injuries in the crash but refused medical transport.

Fisher, who is legally prohibited from having guns or ammunition due to prior felony convictions, was arrested and taken to Troop 7. He faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (4 counts)

  • Possession of a Firearm/Destructive Weapon if Previously Convicted of a Violent Felony (4 counts)

  • Possession of a Weapon with a Removed, Obliterated, or Altered Serial Number

  • Theft of a Firearm (4 counts)

  • Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
