GEORGETOWN, Del.- The Shepherd's Office in Georgetown saw dozens of volunteers make Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate.
Operator Jim Martin said he expected to serve around 300 people and give out around 600 meals.
"They crave anything that's homemade because they don't have a place to live," he said. "So we want to try to give them that that, and, remind them of days past where they had a home. And we're trying to get them back to that spot where they can move into a home. But in the meantime, here's some turkey."
The Shepherd's Office is a non-profit that helps the homeless find food, clothing or any other service they might need.
For CJ Porter, who is homeless, the kind act means everything.
"I've been homeless since I was 18," he said. "And you never seen this many people come out and help everybody. It's a blessing in disguise."
Martin says the Shepherd's Office looks for donations of food, water, clothing and blankets all year round- but with the winter coming around the corner, donations of space heaters are very appreciated.Â
