The Indian River Board of Education is accepting applications from candidates interested in filling a vacant District 1 seat through June 30, 2027.

SELBYVILLE, Del. — The Indian River Board of Education is accepting applications from candidates interested in filling a vacant District 1 seat through June 30, 2027.

Candidates must be U.S. and Delaware citizens who live within the Indian River School District and the nominating district they hope to represent. Applicants must also be at least 18 years old.

Candidates cannot be paid employees of the school district who are subject to the board’s rules and regulations. According to Indian River, they must never have been convicted of embezzlement and cannot be disqualified because of a crime listed under Section 209 of Title 14 of the Delaware Code.

Applicants must also obtain a criminal background check and a Child Protection Registry check as required under Section 309 of Title 31.

Interested candidates should submit a notarized Candidate Filing Form and a letter of interest by 4 p.m. Sept. 23, 2026.
