SELBYVILLE, Del.- The Indian River School District is making changes to the 2024-2025 academic calendar, allowing students and staff to finish the school year a little earlier than expected.
At its meeting on April 28, the Indian River Board of Education approved the new calendar updates, made possible by extra instructional time that’s already been added to the school day.
Back in March, the district extended each school day by 20 minutes. That change added enough hours to the calendar to meet state requirements, even with a shorter end to the school year.
Here’s what’s changing:
The last day of school for students in Grades K-11 will now be Wednesday, June 11
Preschool students will finish on Tuesday, June 10
Final exams at Indian River and Sussex Central high schools will take place on Tuesday, June 10, and Wednesday, June 11
Thursday, June 12, will be a remote half day for students and a half-day work session for teachers
The last day for paraprofessionals will be Wednesday, June 11
Teachers will continue through Monday, June 16, which will be used as a classroom breakdown day
Staff will have Infinite Campus training on Friday, June 13
