Senegal is hosting the Youth Olympic Games, but many locals feel disconnected from the event. Paulina Netinan Nodjibougada, a student, struggles with daily expenses and isn't enthusiastic about the Games. The event is bringing 2,700 young athletes to Dakar and nearby cities. Authorities are promoting it as a chance for youth and a showcase for Africa. However, financial struggles and high living costs overshadow the excitement. Senegal faces heavy debt and economic challenges. Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo says the government is using energy subsidies to help households. Many Senegalese prioritize making ends meet over attending the Games.
