MILLSBORO, Del. - On Friday, May 17, around 9:21PM, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was called to a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road near Bayshore Road. It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with an unknown number of patients and/or entrapment.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck facility, along with the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation efforts.
It appears that a Ford pickup and a Hyundai sedan collided on Long Neck Road. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, rendering them inoperable. One occupant was transported to nearby medical facilities for further evaluation.
The Delaware State Fire Police closed Long Neck Road for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
