One lane road ahead sign

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Munchy Branch Road in Rehoboth Beach remains down to one lane for more than half its length, the result of ongoing construction originally scheduled for completion in May.

The project remains unfinished, leaving much of the road down to a single lane. According to the Delaware Department of Transportation, the work is aimed at improving drainage and adding new sidewalks.

In the meantime, many drivers and residents are feeling the impact.

"They’ve done a pretty good job," said Frann Kennedy, who lives nearby. "I know initially when they started the project, I was concerned about how long it was going to take."

Despite the delays, some community members remain optimistic about the improvements. Daniel Lynch, who is currently building a home on Munchy Branch Road, said he’s looking forward to the changes.

"I think it’s great for the community," Lynch said. "It’s a bicycle lane and a sidewalk, so we’re going to have more room to move around."

DelDOT said they reached out to the contractor to provide an update on the status of the roadwork.
