LAUREL, Del. - The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal investigates a house fire in Laurel. Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshals responded to the scene and said the fire was accidental and the result of a lightning strike to the home.
According to the state fire marshal, the fire was reported at around 10 p.m. on July 4 near Trussum Pond Road.
The fire marshal says the Laurel Fire Department arrived on scene and found a two-story home with heavy fire coming from the roof and second floor with people inside. All people were able to escape without injuries, the fire marshal says.
The estimated damage is said to be about $400,000.
