deadly crash

Delmar, DE - A 35-year-old Seaford man is dead after running off a Delmar-area road.

At approximately 11:34 p.m., police say the crash happened on Whitesville Road, east of Whaley’s Road, when a white 2006 Cadillac STS was observed speeding. The driver lost control of the car, leading to a counterclockwise rotation as it slid off the roadway. The Cadillac then collided with multiple trees, continuing its violent rotation. During this sequence of events, police say the front right passenger was ejected from the car, ultimately coming to rest in the wooded area near the south edge of the roadway.

Tragically, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his name until his family and relatives can be notified. The 31-year-old female passenger, also from Seaford, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to an area trauma hospital, where she remains admitted.

The investigation into the incident was conducted by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Delaware State Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward with information. Sergeant J. Burns, of the Collision Reconstruction Unit, can be reached at (302) 703-3269. Additionally, information can be provided via private message to the Delaware State Police Facebook page or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
