MILFORD, Del. - The Spring Antique Show organized by the Milford Historical Society will take place Saturday, May 3, on the lawn of the Parson Thorne Mansion. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Antique items will be available from area vendors. The Milford Garden Club will offer plants, and a master gardener will be available to give planting advice.
Ralph Prettyman, president of the historical society, said the event is among the group's most attended. “Our dealers have been coming for decades, and we are excited to be able to offer some unique items from several different vendors,” he said.
The Parson Thorne Mansion, one of the city’s oldest buildings, was donated to the historical society in 1961 by the Draper family. It was once the residence of a Delaware governor.
Volunteers will lead tours of the mansion and serve light refreshments made using recipes from the 1700s and 1800s.
The mansion is typically open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In May, it will be open only on the first Saturday. Admission is $1 but donations are accepted, with proceeds supporting preservation of the site.
