Downtown Millsboro

MILLSBORO, Del. - The town of Millsboro is working to bring more business to town.

Charlene Truitt has helped to manager her family's business on Main St. downtown for thirty-eight years now. Truitt would welcome more business with open arms.

"I would like to see a sit-down restaurant other than fast food...a clothing store...we definitely need a clothing store of some type," says Truitt.

It's something the town is working on, with a second location for popular Lewes restaurant Nectar opening downtown in the next month.

The town is also building a larger, new police department and a water plant which will double the towns capacity for water.

Town Manager Jamie Burk says infrastructure like this is critical to attracting more business.

"You need those pieces in place for any kind of growth, which then attracts the retail," says Burk.

Having those pieces in place is important for people like Truitt, who says, the more the merrier.

"We know everybody, we help one another, and you know, that kind of thing," says Truitt.

Another project in the works to help attract growth is coming with the help of DelTech. Burk says DelTech is making a major investment downtown with the William's House Conference Center at the corner of Washington and State St.

The town's comprehensive plan can be accessed on its website here.
