Plantation Lakes

MILLSBORO, Del. - The town of Millsboro is considering a preliminary plan to make parking on the streets along single family homes in the Plantation Lakes neighborhood illegal.

Even though Plantation Lakes is a development, the streets are public, which allows the town to do so. The town says the plan was created because of safety concerns.

Ken Christenbury lives in a single family home in the neighborhood with his family. He is not happy with the preliminary plan.

"We believe that you are assaulting our property values. We live here. This is our home. This is a hill we will die on," says Christenbury.

Christenbury created a petition against the plan, which gained 539 signatures from neighbors who are also opposed.

Millsboro Town Manager Jamie Burk says police won't be giving out illegal parking citations in the single family home section of the neighborhood until a plan is set in place. The public will be able to attend the next parking committee meeting on Oct. 11 in which the committee is discussing the plan.
