DELAWARE - A new Animal Welfare License Plate is now available to drivers across Delaware, offering a way to show support for animal protection efforts while helping fund programs that reduce pet overpopulation.

The Office of Animal Welfare launched the plate through the Division of Motor Vehicles. For a one-time $50 fee, $35 goes directly to the State Spay Neuter Fund aimed at reducing animal homelessness.

"Spaying and neutering are the most effective and humane ways to control pet populations, but the services can be out of reach for some pet owners,” said Joanna Miller, deputy director of OAW. “Revenue is used to provide spay and neuter surgeries for low-income pet owners, community cat programs, and to supplement spay and neuter funds for Delaware shelters and rescues."
