New superintendents

DELAWARE – The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has appointed three new superintendents to lead operations at Bellevue, Fox Point, Killens Pond, and Brandywine Creek State Parks.

Robert Brokus will oversee Bellevue and Fox Point State Parks, Kathleen Crane has been named superintendent of Killens Pond State Park and Mathew Smith will serve as superintendent of Brandywine Creek State Park.

Brokus joined DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation in 2014. He previously worked in facility maintenance roles as a physical plant maintenance trade mechanic and plant maintenance supervisor at Bellevue and Brandywine Creek State Parks. DNREC says he holds certifications as a park and recreation professional and playground safety inspector. 

Crane previously worked in Maryland state parks before joining DNREC in 2019, where she served as a seasonal naturalist and educator. DNREC says she holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental studies from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

According to DNREC, Smith has held several roles within Delaware State Parks since 2016, including conservation technician and seasonal assistant superintendent. He is also a certified playground safety inspector.

DNREC says all three are responsible for the daily operations and supervision of their respective parks.
