OCEAN CITY, Md. — A boater was rescued Sunday morning after a boat began taking on water and sank in Isle of Wight Bay, according to the Ocean City Fire Department.
The Ocean City Emergency Communications Center received multiple reports of a boat taking on water at about 7:50 a.m. The boat was located approximately 100 yards south of the Route 90 Bridge.
Ocean City Fire Department units, including Fire Boat 1, responded to the scene. Fire Boat 1 arrived and rescued the boat’s sole occupant from the bay.
The boater was transported to the 65th Street Boat Ramp for further evaluation. The fire department did not provide additional information about the person’s condition.
Fire officials reminded boaters to wear life jackets and make sure their boats are equipped with proper safety equipment before heading out on the water.
