Dupont Highway

Investigators say the person was not using a crosswalk and was crossing westbound from the highway median when they were struck by a car entering a turn lane.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A person was hit by a car while crossing Dupont Highway on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Georgetown Police Department.

Police and the Georgetown Fire Company responded to the crash at about 3:58 p.m. Investigators say the person was not using a crosswalk and was crossing westbound from the highway median when they were struck by a car entering a turn lane.

The person had minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Police determined that the crash resulted from the person's own negligence and the scene was cleared after about 45 minutes.
