STEVENSVILLE, Md.- A small plane nearly ended up in the water Wednesday morning after veering off the runway at Bay Bridge Airport.

Queen Anne’s County Department of Emergency Services received the call around 11 a.m. that a four-seater aircraft had gone off the runway. The plane came to a stop along the shoreline near the edge of the airfield.

Officials say no one was hurt, but the aircraft sustained damage to its tail.

Maryland State Police are investigating the incident. The airport was temporarily shut down following the emergency.
