REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Rehoboth Beach officials are working to address a growing parking issue ahead of the Sea Witch Festival. The city says cars are often parked along Rehoboth Avenue for days in advance, including overnight, which is creating congestion.

The Sea Witch Festival, one of the largest annual events in the area, draws thousands of attendees and increases demand for parking. However, the extended parking times leading up to the event have raised concerns among local officials. The issue is particularly evident in the days before the parade, when cars park for long periods, limiting space for those coming into the city.

Diane Lakomyj, who visits Rehoboth Beach often, expressed frustration over the parking situation. “It’s hard enough to find parking spaces here on a regular day, so I would find that highly inconsiderate,” she said.

City leaders are discussing potential solutions to manage the influx of cars, aiming to ensure smoother traffic flow during the busy festival weekend at the city's Monday meeting. Previously, the city discussed extending the paid parking season as a way to deter this and take advantage of the revenue.
