REHOBOTH BEACH- Del. - E-bikes are a popular method of transportation in Rehoboth Beach. There are also many bike shops that sell e-bikes in Rehoboth Beach. The city does not currently have any e-bike policies in place.

People have strong opinions, both for and against e-bikes.

Anne Jornlin, who lives in Lewes and often rides her foot-powered bike in Rehoboth, is concerned about e-bikes.

"They're going too fast on the trails, and I think there should be a governor to regulate how fast they are going", Jornlin told CoastTV.

On the other hand, Rebecca Barlow loves e-bikes and enjoys riding her own around Rehoboth Beach.

Barlow explained, "I just think it really depends on the rider, and I see no reason why they are more dangerous than a regular bike."

Many e-bikes have the option to ride like normal bikes, all you have to do is turn off the motor.

Jerry MacFarlane, who lives in New Jersey and visits Rehoboth often, agrees with both sides of the argument.

"Regulations should be in place, but they're still bikes, and if your battery dies, you can just ride it like a normal peddle-powered bike," said MacFarlane.

Today, the Rehoboth Streets and Transportation Committee was supposed to meet to discuss a possible e-bike policy. That meeting was canceled, and the discussion will continue at a future meeting.
