REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Rehoboth Beach Police Department addressed two separate disturbances that took place between April 30 and May 2.

The first event unfolded around 5:12 p.m. on April 30, when officers responded to the ocean block of Rodney Street following reports of multiple parking violations. Officers observed approximately 10 to 12 cars parked illegally and entered the beach area to locate the drivers. On the sand, police report having encountered a large group of about 250 people, accompanied by loud music and instances of smoking.

Police say they addressed the violations by speaking directly with those gathered. The department noted that the group was very cooperative and complied with all requests. By 7:11 p.m., a follow-up call alleged that some individuals were urinating in the dunes, but officers reported finding no violations. Although no one was seen littering at the time, a large amount of trash was discovered on the beach the following morning. No citations were issued since the littering was not happening while police were on scene.

A separate and unrelated incident occurred on May 2 at approximately 8:31 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the ocean block of Rehoboth Avenue for a report of a large fight in progress. Though no fighting was witnessed upon their arrival, officers did observe a crowd of about 100 people who matched the description given in a 911 call.

Due to the size of the crowd, officers requested assistance from the Delaware State Police and Dewey Beach Police Department. The crowd was dispersed and multiple witnesses came forward to identify three victims: two who had minor injuries and were treated by EMS, and a third whose car was damaged during the incident. The injured people were not cooperative with the on-scene investigation, and the case remains under investigation, according to Rehoboth Beach police.

Anyone with information about the May 2 fight is urged to contact the Rehoboth Beach Police Department at 302-227-2577 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333. Callers may remain anonymous.
