SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Commission for Women has launched the Eastern Shore’s first Pink Pantry, a free menstrual care initiative designed to fight period poverty in local neighborhoods.

The new pantry, located at the Newton Street Community Center, will offer free access to menstrual care products for locals on the Eastern Shore.

The commission says the pink pantry addresses a pressing issue for many in the community. According to statistics, 1 in 8 women live in poverty and 1 in 4 experience period poverty during their lifetime. The pantry aims to bridge that gap and make sure menstrual products are as accessible as other essentials.

The Pink Pantry is now open to anyone in need.
