Milford, Del. – In a dazzling display of community enthusiasm, the Southern Delaware Golf Club's grand open house saw an overwhelming turnout, with over 300 people streaming through the doors to witness the transformation of the once-neglected Rookery North golf course. The event, held on December 9th, showcased not only the revitalized greens but also featured a successful sale of golf club apparel and the initiation of over 100 memberships.
The Southern Delaware Golf Club, under the careful stewardship of the Johnson Company, has undergone extensive renovations, including reshaping bunkers, installing new turf, and enhancing drainage systems. It's set to open in Spring 2024.
The grand open house witnessed a line that stretched out to the street, with eager patrons waiting 30 minutes before the doors officially opened. The overwhelming support and patience of the attendees did not go unnoticed, and organizers extended their sincere thanks to everyone who participated.
"We want to thank everyone for coming out today; we appreciate each and every one of you. The line was out to the street 30 minutes before the doors opened. Thank you, everyone, for being so patient as we worked you through the line," expressed the organizers on Facebook.
Attendees could also see the progress of what will be the Big Oyster Brewery on site, where the old clubhouse used to be.
According to the membership application, the course could be open as early as April 2024.
