DELAWARE- Three police departments in Delaware have successfully achieved reaccreditation through the Delaware Police Accreditation Commission, according to the state’s Police Officer Standards and Training Commission, part of the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

The Ocean View Police Department and Newport Police Department each received three-year reaccreditations, while the Greenwood Police Department was awarded a two-year reaccreditation.

Accreditation assessors with the commission reviewed each department’s policies, procedures, and practices. Officials say each department also underwent an on-site inspection and personnel interviews to confirm compliance with more than 100 professional policing standards.

The agency provides a structured process for evaluating and updating local police departments based on formal criteria. The reaccreditation of these three departments highlights continued efforts toward professionalism in Delaware policing.
