GEORGETOWN, Del. - Three people have been injured in a school bus crash in Georgetown, according to Delaware State Police.
Police say the crash took place around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, on Route 9 between Sussex Tech and Route 113.Â
A spokesperson for Delaware State Police tells CoastTV News that an Indian River School District school bus, driven by a 62-year-old Georgetown woman, was stopped at a flashing traffic signal when a black 2015 Volkswagen Passat failed to stop and rear-ended the school bus.Â
Troopers say a 17-year-old girl from Laurel, who was driving the Passat was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and cited for Inattentive Driving.
Troopers say the three people hurt were taken to the hospital by EMS. Route 9 was closed for an unknown amount of time afterwards.
This story will be updated as new details are received.
This is far from the first school bus crash since the school year began. Earlier this month, a school bus in Lewes caused a three-car crash, and a few days later in Laurel, a bus crash injured a student.
