Medical waste, such as hypodermic needles, have been reported to wash ashore starting Sunday in Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Fenwick Island, Ocean City, Dewey Beach, the Indian River Inlet and Assateague Island. The waste is prompting multiple beach closures, according to authorities.
