GREENWOOD, Del. - A Greenwood structure was destroyed by fire late Monday night.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal, the fire was reported shortly after 8:00 p.m. and occurred in the 12000 block of North First Street. 

The Office of the State Fire Marshal says the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from an unoccupied maintenance structure at the New Process Fibre Company.

According to the State Fire Marshal, there were no reported injuries, and damage is estimated at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on this fire is asked to call the Sussex Division of the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office at (302) 856-5600.

Crews responding to the fire had rocks thrown at their fire trucks.

According to the Ellendale Fire Company, rocks hit two of their three trucks working the fire. The windshield on one truck was shown to have damage. It was at least one person who threw the rocks.
