UPDATE: West Nile Virus detected in Delaware sentinel chickens for first time in 2024

DNREC announced Friday the detection of West Nile Virus (WNV) in sentinel chickens for the first time in 2024. The virus was found in eight chickens sampled on July 22 by DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section and confirmed positive by the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) Laboratory on July 24.
