MILFORD, Del. - A woman from Felton was killed after being struck by a car while walking across North DuPont Boulevard on March 27, according to the Milford Police Department.

The crash happened around 8:12 p.m. on North DuPont Boulevard in the area of North Street Extended. Officers say a black Honda Accord was driving north in the right lane when 78-year-old Martha Burnham entered the lane and was hit.

The 30-year-old driver stopped and called 911. Emergency crews arrived and performed life-saving measures, but Burnham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver was not hurt in the crash and North DuPont Boulevard was closed for nearly four hours as officers investigated. Milford police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have relevant information to contact the department, as the investigation is still ongoing.

This marks the third case in recent months where a person was hit while walking. Two other crashes happened, one being in Lewes in January and the other one was in Rehoboth in March
