SALISBURY, Md. - The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Women’s Fund has awarded $65,000 in grants to nonprofits serving Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.
The grants support programs that address the unmet needs of women and girls and aim to create positive change in their lives. The Women’s Fund is a giving circle at the Community Foundation that enables members to engage in team-based philanthropy and charitable networking.
The 2025 grant recipients are:
Art League of Ocean City – To form a leadership group of young women to design and lead arts programs.
Because I Am My Sister’s Keeper – For sessions, field trips and scholarships for girls ages 14-18.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore – For a team-building program using obstacle courses.
Célébrez la Femme – To launch an Empowerment Expo expanding its annual summit.
Chesapeake Housing Mission –To support two Women’s Builds and a team project.
Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake – To provide 30 scholarships for girls in grades 3–8 to participate in the Girls on the Run program at their school.
Help and Outreach Point of Entry – For supplies and support to at-risk women.
Lead4Life Inc. – For job coaching and CNA or cosmetology training for reentry program participants.
Oshun’s Garden – To expand a support circle addressing gender-based violence.
Salisbury Elite – For female-centered programs and a women’s self-care event.
The Child & Family Foundation – For middle and high school girls’ empowerment activities.
The Salvation Army of Salisbury – To expand mentoring and skills programs for girls ages 6–18.
Village of Hope – To provide transportation for women in transitional housing.
Worcester County Economic Development – For workshops to empower women in business.
Worcester County GOLD – For hygiene and personal items for women and girls in need.
According to the Community Foundation, it has awarded $114 million in grants and scholarships since 1984, supporting charitable efforts across the Lower Eastern Shore.
