SNOW HILL, MD. - The Worcester County Health Department is distributing Health Kits for residents to stay safe in the summer. These kits can be collected at the Berlin, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill libraries and health department locations.
The Worcester County Health Department knows how important it is to be active and healthy in the summer, which is why they are distributing summer kits to the community in order to stay summer safe.
Residents can collect these kits at the Berlin, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill libraries and health department locations. These kits include reflective safety vests, bottled water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and more.
The WCHD also encourages residents to follow these safety tips:
Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. Don’t wait until you are thirsty. Drink adequate amounts of water frequently.
Take it easy outdoors and take short breaks if you feel tired. Schedule activities for earlier in the morning or evening, when it is cooler outside.
If you are outdoors in the early morning or evening hours, wear reflective, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
Apply sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher at least 30 minutes before going outdoors. Continue to apply, following the directions on the label.
Wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat to protect your eyes and face from the sun.
Avoid drinking certain types of beverages like coffee, tea, cola, and other heavily caffeinated beverages, along with any alcohol.
Avoid eating hot foods or heavy meals as they add heat to your body.
