Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Suzanne Goode says transparency, fiscal oversight and infrastructure improvements will be the cornerstones of her campaign for mayor.

The City of Rehoboth Beach and DNREC have reached an agreement allowing the city to resume raking Deauville Beach.

For nearly two years, Deauville Beach in Rehoboth Beach has been under the control of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, which owns the property. During the Jan. 5 mayor and commissioners meeting, Commissioner Chris Galanty said he would like the city to discuss trying to resume control of Deauville Beach at a future meeting.

 Delaware environmental experts have issued a recreational water advisory for Deauville Beach and the main beach in Cape Henlopen State Park after routine water quality testing found elevated levels of fecal indicator bacteria.

While visiting Delaware State Parks this summer, one of the rules that has persisted for the last 30-years is the Carry In Carry Out policy. This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the policy that was most recently applied to the recently acquired Deauville Beach.

After various community meetings and surveys, DNREC proposed user fees for Deauville Beach have been approved. A daily entrance fee or an annual pass will be required to use the beach from Memorial Day weekend though Nov. 30 in 2024. DNREC says Deauville Beach annual passes will be available for sale starting Wednesday, May 15.

When you visit the beach, the expectation is to find seashells, not trash. Yet, Deauville Beach in Rehoboth is struggling with litter like bottles and wrappers tarnishing its natural beauty.
